A SCHEME to keep a public space clean and tidy is being undertaken this week.
Tendring Council staff are felling trees and treating the remaining stumps to ensure the area in Kiln Lane, Mistley does not become overcrowded.
A selection of sycamore trees will now be kept under control and managed under a regular maintenance programme to improve a wooded area where the space joins New Road.
The council’s member for environment and coast protect Nick Turner said: “If these self-sown trees were allowed to grow to full maturity they will overcrowd the area to the detriment of the other trees at the site.
“Residents will see the team working there and we like to keep them informed about work being carried out in their area.”
