A huge parcel of land could be transformed into public open space if a new project gets off the ground.

The Three Parishes Trust has mooted plans to buy part of Mistley Place Park in New Road, Mistley to use as a community facility.

The land is thought to be about six acres, which is bigger than three football pitches.

But it is not yet known what the not-for-profit company, which was established in 2011 to support good causes in Manningtree, Mistley and Lawford, will do with the site if any sale does go ahead.

The agenda for the next meeting on March 24 lists "seek to acquire Mistley Place Park for the benefit of the community".

Members of the public can attend the meeting at 7.30pm at the Community Rooms in Ironside Walk by joining on the door at £1 per person.
