A MASSIVE clean-up for the tourism season is set to revitalise rundown sites in Harwich and Dovercourt.

Volunteers are being called on to team up with Harwich Town Council and Tendring Council to spruce up areas and entice tourists into the town.

Pavements will be pressure washed to rid them of dirt and there will be attempts to tidy up the duck pond on Main Road as part of the clean-up, which will be the first of its kind for Harwich.

Shop owners will be encouraged to spruce up their building frontages with a lick of paint while hanging baskets will be hung from lampposts in the town.

Mr Henderson added: “Dovercourt will be in bloom throughout the town centre. There will also be granite flower pots outside Dovercourt Station.

“The event has shown we intend to get the season off to the best start and that we need to make the most of what we can.”
