WORKS to lower the speed limit on a dangerous village road could start as early as the end of this month after a three-battle for action.
Residents and councillors have been calling for a lower speed limit on Cox’s Hill, in Lawford, for at least three years, but were initially told the road did not meet criteria.
They feared for children crossing at the top of the road, commuters walking to the station and cars travelling at up to 80mph.
Essex County Councillor for Tendring Rural West, Carlo Guglielmi said: “The decision was signed off by the cabinet member before Christmas.
“It should now be delivered before the end of March."
