THERE are renewed fears about the future of baby units in Tendring after health chiefs made the shock decision stopped letting mums-to-be give birth at Clacton and Harwich hospitals.
Both hospitals' maternity units closed their delivery suites at 5pm on Monday so midwives can cover staff shortages in Colchester.
The closure is believed to be temporary and post and antenatal care will continue at Clacton and the Fryatt.
But mums booked in to give birth in Tendring's hospitals will now be forced to travel to Colchester General Hospital.
