A TOWN centre eyesore which could become home to an apartment complex has been put back up for sale.

The former hospital ground, in Main Road, Dovercourt, has been derelict since the disused hospital was demolished in 2006 and replaced by the town’s Fryatt Hospital.

It is now listed by Fenn Wright estate agents at an asking price of £1million for the 1.9 acre site.

Tendring Council are currently considering plans for a 48-bedroom assisted care home and separate 12-unit centre for adults with learning disabilities on the site. The site also has planning permission for a 76 bed care home, 13 bed supported living units and support facilities.

Roger Hayward, partner at Fenn Wright who deals with commercial development, said: “I would like to think it is attractive for a buyer because of where it is – it is close to the hospital and port.”
