BUDDING scientists have been given a behind the scenes look at a food mill in Mistley.
Pupils from Mistley Norman Primary School had a tour around the Edme factory on the banks of the River Stour and made bread in the on-site bakery.
The visit on Wednesday morning was part of National Science and Engineering Week and saw the Year Six children got hands on kneading the dough for their loaves before baking them.
Managing director Peter Tichbon said: “During the course of the morning the children learned the story behind baking – from the growing and harvesting of grain; the milling and malting of flour; to the making and baking of bread."
