AMATEUR footballers donated more than £850 to a cancer charity after a fundraising match.
Representatives from Jewson, based in South Street, Manningtree took on coaches, parents and veterans from Lawford Football Club on Sunday to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Care.
More than 30 players took part in the game with the Jewson squad winning 10-1.
Jewson spokesman Michael Lace hailed the match as a great success.
“We had a really big attendance from players and fans and managed to smash our £600 target,” he said.
“There were also lots of great raffle prizes donated by Ipswich Town, Colchester United and Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club.
“All of our players were staff or customers from Jewson and we definitely knew we were selecting the right people.
“It was a great success and hopefully this can become an annual event.”
