TOP level talks have been held to kick-start a major project to regenerate Harwich.

Last week a senior team from Harwich International Port met with Tendring Council leader Mick Page, the council's chief executive Ian Davidson, and senior officers at Weeley.

They discussed key issues of the town's regeneration including the council’s bid for Assisted Area Status and Centre for Offshore Renewable Engineering Status.

A joint prospectus has been put together to promote the Harwich's offshore windfarm opportunities and as a result of the meeting port bosses have offered to write to Central Government to underpin the council and its partners’ efforts to put the town in the spotlight.

On top of these plans Tendring Council has organised a special workshop to give businesses a chance to learn about the offshore renewable energy industry and how they can get involved.

The event on April 15 is being staged at the Passenger Terminal at Harwich International Port from 9.30am to 12 noon.

Places on the workshop are limited and anyone interested should email info@imwa.co.uk
