PARENTS are set for a day of disruption as schools across the county are affected by teachers striking.

Teachers are striking in protest over pay and pensions.

It is an issue which has gone on for more than two years and is in response to Department for Education plans to rewrite teachers' working conditions.

Only teachers who are members of the NUT are striking.

Some 37 schools will be closed across the county, 68 will be partially open and 306 schools will be open as usual.

But Essex County Council has so far refused to name the affected schools.
