BIRD watchers, historians and artists were amongst the interest groups gathered at the Harwich Peninsula University of the Third Age’s open day.

The society, which has been running since 2006, bring members together to learn from each other about shared passions and also helps people discover new hobbies.

More than 100 people came and visited the exhibition at Kingsway Hall on Friday and chairman Shirley Hogg was delighted with how the day panned out.

“It went so well and we had lots of people through the door and signed up several new members,” she said.

“The day was a big success and over 40 of our groups were there.

“The only charge for the service is an annual fee of £13.50 and everyone tries to gather information from each other.”
