PART of a popular farm park could be transformed into a major tourist destination packed with activities.

The Three Parishes Trust, a not-for-profit firm set up to fund projects in Manningtree, Mistley and Lawford, has agreed to look into buying half of Mistley Place Park for the community.

Members met to discuss the idea, and mooted ideas of what the 12-acre site in New Road, on the market for £950,000, could be used for.

Mandy Rose, a director of the trust, said: “What’s for sale is 12 acres, including the pond and the woods, the cafe and car park and the bungalow behind the cafe.

“There are various options put forward, like holding events on the site, activities running on the pond, activities for young people and using the cafe as the income source."

Talks have also been held with Mistley Parish Council and it is hoped a feasibility study can be done as an initial step of the project.
