A WORRIED football club committee member has called on the community to safeguard the club’s immediate future.
Mick Wildney is appealing for people to come forward to improve Harwich and Parkeston’s Royal Oak ground to ensure it continues to meet Health and Safety legislations if the first team are promoted to the Thurlow and Nunn league.
The club has played on the site since 1880 and although plans to move to a new home have been mooted, the Royal Oak could still be required for a few years.
“I certainly do not want to see another piece of land in our town left to become an overgrown and untidy mess,” he said.
Anyone willing to offer help can contact the club on 01255 503643
