A NEW pub trail with a difference has been launched in Harwich.
Not only does the map, created by Campaign for Real Ale member Richard Oxborrow with help from Harwich Society’s vice chairman David Whittle and historian Peter Goodwin, contain all the open pubs in Old Harwich.
But it also lists those no longer open.
The idea is to create a tourism opportunity for what was one of the most affluent trades in the town.
"Harwich is a compact town but it had more than 40 pubs.
"It would have been a really bustling place."
Last Saturday more than 100 people turned out to launch the new trail at former pub Foresters, once known locally as the Drum and Monkey though it was officially called the Foresters Arms.
