A COUNCIL has given its support to a planning application proposing to change a second hand furniture store to a licensed wine bar.
Harwich Town Council agreed there were no objections to the change at 158 High Street requested by Sonya McCready, as long as suitable opening hours and licensing were agreed.
Councillor Garry Calver said: “Opening times could and almost certainly will be part of a future licensing hearing but I am mindful of what happened with the Basement where the two ran parallel and ended up causing problems for two or three years.
“There needs to be a liaison between the planning department and licensing committee.”
Tendring Council has the final say on planning matters.
