A FATHER whose baby was born nine weeks prematurely, weighing less than a bag of sugar, is fundraising to thank a charity for its care.
Harwich and Parkeston FC manager Matt Carmichael’s daughter Evie was born prematurely in 2008, weighing just 2lbs 11ounces.
His friend Carl Jobling’s nephew, Connor Simpson, was also born prematurely 17 years ago.
In both cases the families were helped by charity Bliss which provides care and support for babies born prematurely.
Now Matt and Carl will play alongside Essex cricketers Tim Phillips, Greg Smith and Essex one day captain Ryan Ten Doeschate in a charity match against Harwich and Dovercourt cricket club.
The match takes place on July 11 at Harwich and Dovercourt Cricket Club on West End Lane from 6pm.
