A BIG birthday bash is being held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of a community building.

Now a church, the historic site in Trinity Road, Mistley used to house St Michael's Primary School.

It was founded in 1814 as the Manningtree and Mistley National School and by 1833 there was an average attendance of 235 pupils.

For the past 37 years the Trinity Road building has been a meeting place for the Trinity Church.

And to mark the special milestone the church is hosting a family celebration at the Riverview play area in Colchester Road, Lawford from 1pm to 4pm on Bank Holiday Monday.

There will be live music, a barbecue, craft making, a bouncy castle, face painting and a free goody bag for the first 50 families as well as a big birthday bash cake.

Tickets are £1 per person from 01206 393745.
