A SIX year old fundraiser walked for seven miles to raise cash for St Helena Hospice.

Evie-May Heath, of Third Avenue, Dovercourt was inspired to help the charity after members of staff from the hospice visited her class at St Joseph's Primary in Dovercourt.

Mum, Christie, said they explained the important role of the hospice to the children during the presentation last year.

"The charity's mascot Dandy Lion has stood out to her ever since.

"She entered and completed the Pier to Pier walk on Sunday this was her first fundraising sport event and she was very determined to complete the walk and in a great time in thanks for all the money people had donated."

Evie walked along the promenade from Clacton to Walton in one hour and 57 minutes.

She raised £142 for the charity.
