Assisted Area Status: 'now we’re playing catch-up'

HARWICH has potentially missed out on wind farm projects as a result of failing to gain the status years ago.

Ivan Henderson, County Councillor for Harwich, said: “This is really good news, but we are playing catch up with other areas that were given this status three years ago.

“Areas such as Thanet in Kent, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft are already signing contracts for business.

“The reason we are so far behind is that the Kent and Essex Local Enterprise Partnership, which should have been arguing our case, is too big."
