CYCLE-MANIA is set to pedal into Harwich and Manningtree as the world’s top women’s cyclists take part in the inaugural Women’s Tour.

Global TV audiences are expected to tune in as the riders travel through Lawford, Mistley, Bradfield, Wix and Great Oakley before finish in Clacton during the third stage today.

The fifth and final leg leaves Dovercourt Swimming Pool at 9.45am on Sunday and goes through Harwich, Parkeston, Bradfield, Mistley and Lawford before the finish line in Bury St Edmunds.

British champion Lizzie Armistead, Olympic gold medallist Laura Trott and sister Emma will all appear with a one-hour programme each day broadcast across the world including on ITV4.

A festival will be held at the Dovercourt start including trade stands, activities and family entertainment as the Tour de Tendring leaves half an hour after the professionals.

Routes of six, 20 and 60 miles are on offer for amateur riders to tackle.
