THE talents of young people will be celebrated at the Harwich Festival of the Arts this year.

The Great Big Celebration of Young Harwich has been earmarked for Saturday July 5 with a day of performances, workshops and displays at the Redoubt Fort.

Among the talent performing are the Zig Zag Theatre Group who will be performing plays about evacuees during the Second World War, Kathleen Dunbar and Andrew Sterry singing Handel and Schubert and a performance from the youth section of Harwich Sing.

The afternoon will see workshops and stalls opened showcasing the various opportunities for young people in Harwich and students on hairdressing and beautician courses will be demonstrating their skill, all rounded off by an energetic finale of the Pharrell Williams smash hit - Happy.

Festivities carry on into the evening with performances from local bands involved in Harwich Rock School and Latin dancing from Chloe Carmen and Sam Longheed.
