Chase Lane Primary School pupils had the privilege of leading out the last stage of the Women's Tour as it left Harwich on Sunday.
The pupils were given the honour after the Dovercourt school was voted School of the Year for the county by Active Essex.
Paul Bertram, its head of sport, said: “Despite cold conditions, the children, recent graduates from Tendring’s Bikeability course, run at the school, thoroughly enjoyed leading out this international event and will, hopefully, be inspired to try cycling as a sport themselves."
