A DEDICATED adventurer is celebrating after achieving the Duke of Edinburgh gold award.
Max Fordham, 21, of The Park in Mistley was presented with the prize at St James’ Palace in London last week after completing a programme of activities including an expedition in Wales which included wind, rain and poisoned water.
“It was a tough few days and turned out to be more interesting and difficult than I thought but it makes it all worth it when you cross the finishing line,” he said.
“Hopefully achieving the award, which also involves 18 months of volunteering, will show potential employers I am willing to commit for long periods.
“I did mine with the St John’s ambulance service and ended up doing even more because I enjoyed it so much.”
