SEVEN seats are up for grabs across the Eastern Region when voters take to the polls for the European Elections later this week.

Currently the Conservatives and Labour hold four seats and the Lib Dems and UKIP hold one seat each.

But this could be about to change with opinions on the UK’s involvement in the EU divided among voters. Residents took to social media to debate the importance of these elections.

Chris Tye, of Harcourt Avenue, Dovercourt, said: “The European elections at this point in time are the most important elections in this country.

“Like it or not 70 per cent of the laws and legislation that we all live by are created by the EU."
