CRIME-fighting residents in Tendring claim police cuts have gone too far.

The latest wave of cost-cutting will see another 200 officers, 100 PCSOs and hundreds of police staff positions at risk as well as more stations closing.

Essex Police Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh announced the plans as part of a major restructure.

He added that more than 500 police officers are set to be taken out of central response hubs and will return to towns and villages.

But Frank Belgrove, chairman of the Tendring Rural Neighbourhood Action Panel, said he did not believe the restructure will lead to more bobbies on the beat.

“All it really is doing is moving officers from one part to another, but not necessarily to villages,” he said.
