BIG-HEARTED fundraisers are hoping to net cash for charity in a double header of charity football matches on the same day in honour of their loved ones.
Friends and family will reunited in memory of Darren Hawkins, who died in March 2004, just weeks after being diagnosed with leukaemia aged 17.
Darren’s ex-teammates from Lawford Lads will take on the reforming Brantham Colts at 2pm at School Lane, Lawford on Saturday.
On the day there will be a barbecue, ice cream van and prize draw, as well as a signed Manchester United shirt up for auction.
All money raised will be donated to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and ex-manager and event organiser Steve Cone is hoping to raise £1500.
At the Memorial Ground in Little Oakley players from the club will take on friends and family of mother and daughter Joanne and Natasha Coombs who died after being hit by trains in separate incidents in 2007.
The event has previously raised thousands of pounds for charity and this year the good cause is St Helena Hospice.
Kick off is at 1pm and there will be a bouncy castle, large raffle, bar and refreshments available.
