Blood tests at your GP

First published in News

DOCTORS’ surgeries have taken over blood testing services from Clacton and Colchester Hospitals saving Harwich patients extra travel.

Health bosses say it will massively boost the number of tests which can be carried out from 2,900 to 4,600 a week.

The service is almost running at full capacity so the move should help meet increasing demand.

Patients will undergo tests at GP surgeries instead of being referred to the clinics at Clacton or Colchester.

A spokesman said it was a “win-win” situation for the health service and patients, who will have greater choice over where their tests are carried out.
