LIFEBOAT crew members from Harwich were called to rescue a struggling ship which had become stranded.
A dive boat broke down about ten miles off the Walton coast and the Harwich crew was sent to retrieve it.
The stranded boat was located at about 3.20pm on Saturday, and towed to the River Deben entrance, where it was transferred to the Felixstowe Ferry harbour master’s craft.
At about 4.30pm coastguards were also alerted to a speedboat which had suffered engine failure near Harwich Harbour.
The speedboat crew managed to secure a tow from a passing boat. Coastguards monitored the situation until it was confirmed that everyone was safely ashore.
