IT was a day to remember for Tendring Council’s new chairman as she visited Buckingham Palace for a garden party.

Val Guglielmi, who is also a Lawford parish councillor, was elected to the position last month and attended the soiree with fellow councillor and husband Carlo Guglielmi.

“It was a great honour and a pleasure to go to Buckingham Palace for the event and we had a wonderful day there representing the people of Tendring,” she said.

The pair were joined by council leader Mick Page and wife Lorraine. Mr Page has previously visited the palace twice in the past representing Tendring Council and Essex County Council.

“It is always a special day and one you never forget,” he said.

“I certainly remember the last occasion as the grounds and gardens were all under water and the whole area was flooded.

“Luckily it was much better weather this time around and we had another fantastic time.”
