A SUMMER of car boot sales start this weekend in a bid to save a struggling football club.

Harwich and Parkeston Football Club’s future currently hangs in the balance with concerns over finances and administration.

But Bev Heard and Zoe Harding-Double aren’t letting the town lose the club without a fight.

They are organising car boot sales every Sunday afternoon until August at the Royal Oak ground on Main Road, Dovercourt.

All the proceeds from the car boot sale will be split between the football club and Essex Air Ambulance.

Bev, of King Georges Avenue, Dovercourt, said: “This is another local club that we would not want to see gone, there needs to be more community spirit and are hoping that by doing a weekly event we can help a little bit, to get the community together."

People wanting to sell at the sales, which start this Sunday, should arrive at 11am with pitches costing £5. The sale will be open to buyers from 12pm with entry 50p for adults and free for children.
