AN elderly couple have hit out at a housing company after they were told to wash in the sink, after being left without a shower for almost a week.
Vic and Sheila Hall, of Howard Avenue in Dovercourt, reported the problem to landlords Cotman Hosing Association last Wednesday when the shower fell off the wall while Mr Hall was using it.
Mrs Hall, 66, suffers from slight incontinence and relies on using the shower at least once a day.
“When my husband was in the shower it fell off and then water was running from where it shouldn’t and through the electricity supply,” she said.
“We contacted Cotman Housing and they told us they would send somebody but we were not an emergency.
“Someone came out later that day and made it all safe but after that we did not hear anything.
“Nobody seems to care."
The shower was eventually fixed by engineers from Cotman Housing last Tuesday.
A spokesman for Cotman Housing Association said: ““We are sorry to hear that our customer, Mrs Hall, is disappointed with the service she has received from us.
“Showers do occasionally go wrong, and, regrettably, it is not always possible to fix the problem at the first appointment."
