A BOY was robbed of his motorcycle as he walked along the side of the road.

Police are investigating after the 15-year-old boy was targeted on Main Road in Dovercourt on June 11 at around 12.50pm.

The boy was approached and threatened before having his hooded top pulled over his head.

Officers want to speak with an elderly couple who may have been walking past at the time of the incident.

PC Kevin Ward, of Harwich Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: "This happened close to an alleyway by Northsea View in Main Road which also leads through to Hollyrood.

"The victim was approached by a man, was threatened, and had his hooded top pulled over his head.

“His motorbike was then taken. The man then headed off in the direction of Willow Way.

“I am very keen to speak to the couple that were walking past at the time of the incident. I would like them to contact me at Harwich Police Station.”

The Yamaha YB100 was later found in an alleyway where it had been abandoned.

A 15-year-old boy from Harwich was arrested later that day on suspicion of robbery.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries until July 30.
