THE Princess Royal will make a return visit to Harwich on Wednesday when she will mark Trinty House’s 500th Anniversary. The Standard takes a look back at her previous visits to the town.

In 1986 she visited the town in her capacity as President of Save the Children and visited the Ark Centre.

Keith Todd, who was chairman of the Ark Centre at the time, said: “She came down to hand over the key that now said we ran the building. We were taking over everything from Save the Children.

“She told me she had been here before, coming over in a boat with her horses to Navyard."

On Wednesday she is expected to attend a church service at St Nicholas Church at around 10.30am - the service is expected to last an hour. Following the service she will make her way to Trinity House.
