A MATERNITY unit for Rwandan mothers is nearly complete after a charity purchased specialist hospital equipment.
Maralyn Bambridge, from Brantham, set up the Engalynx charity in 1998 and it has helped fund the Maternity Unit Engalynx in eastern Rwanda.
Building work at the site in Ntunga is now close to completion and it is hoped the unit will officially open in September.
Mrs Bambridge will be heading out to Rwanda later this month to meet the container shipping the medical equipment.
Ten hospital beds and mattresses, one incubator, one heater/resuscitator, two sets baby scales, two oxymeters and a stainless steel table, stethoscopes, thermometers, boxes of sheets, blankets, pillows, baby clothes are all currently on the way to Rwanda.
