HIGH streets up and down the country are struggling and Tendring is no exception.
With the growing popularity of internet shopping and ‘click and collect’ services more people are shopping from home.
But figures show the East of England has some of the best high street occupancy rates and growth of stores.
In Dovercourt the high street appears to be bucking the national trend.
Lesley Pollard, Harwich and Dovercourt Partnership, said things were better than the community thought.
She said:“I think there is more occupancy of shops than people realise. We have only got a couple of empty shops."
She added: " It is better than it has been for a couple of years which is quite significant for a small high street and quite encouraging."
