AN open day including some of a village’s oldest and most historic properties could have ghoulish possibilities.

Buildings in Little Oakley including 700-year old Foulton Hall, The Old Rectory, the former Little Oakley school Cherry Tree Cottage and St Mary’s Church will all be open to the public on Saturday.

Several of the venues are said to be haunted and village pub The Cherry Tree will be offering specially baked Cherry Tree cake to try and appease the spirits.

A phantom is said to visit the bar, cellar and garden but barmaid Abbie Rudd is sceptical of its existence.

“We are looking forward to showing people around the pub and although many people say they have seen it – I don’t believe in ghosts.”

The event runs from 10am until 1pm with an exhibition of photographs at the Little Oakley Club at noon, Two Village School Fete at 1pm and a social evening at Little Oakley Club including a fun quiz from 6pm.

Tickets for the open day are £2 and available from all venues. Proceeds will be donated to the Little Oakley Club’s artificial pitch project and the Two Village School PTA.
