FESTIVAL bosses are celebrating after a missing decorative bicycle was found in one piece.

Last week The Standard reported how two green bicycles The Harwich Festival of the Arts had placed around the town had gone missing from Old Harwich and Dovercourt High Street but one had been retrieved in Fronks Road.

Since then another had been nabbed by cultured crooks from the Low Lighthouse in Harwich but was spotted by an eagle eyed walker at the weekend on the Dovercourt side of Stone Pier.

Festival spokesman Ann Evander is delighted the bike has been returned but organisers are still on the lookout for the remaining elusive bike.

“After we were told somebody had spotted it we went down there it was found on the Dovercourt side of Stone Pier in some seaweed,” she said.

“It is definitely the one which was taken from the Low Lighthouse and it has travelled some 500 yards and how it got there is a mystery.

“The bikes have really grabbed attention and imagination and I would really like to pass on our many thanks to the lady who helped us get it back.”

Anyone with any information about the remaining missing bike can call the festival on 07971 041076.
