UNIFORMED residents who could patrol the streets of Manningtree, Mistley and Lawford shouldn’t be expected to take on the responsibility, according to a councillor.
Last month the Standard revealed the area could be one of two used as pilot schemes for Parish Safety Agents.
Mistley Parish Council was told on Monday the scheme would be looking for two or three volunteers to give out safety advice and guidance.
They would have their uniform provided, which would have badges of the police and fire service.
Francis Fairhall said: “It seems they will be doing the sort of job the police and fire service used to do themselves."
