TENDRING’S future job hopes have been pinned on Harwich as a council looks to bring 5,000 jobs to the district in the next 15 years.

The town is also expected to deliver around 1,000 homes as part of the new Local Plan being put together by Tendering Council.

Despite years of work, Tendring Council’s draft local plan was thrown out by officers in May, as it was expected planning inspectors would reject it following complaints from Colchester Council.

The original plan included earmarking areas for more than 6,000 new homes but the council now needs to provide 12,120 homes and 5,000 jobs in the district between 2014 and 2031.

At a meeting on Tuesday the Local Plan Committee will consider a report on the best places to build the homes.
