A LIFEBOAT museum has been handed a new exhibition to help boost tourism.

Harwich Lifeboat Station mechanic, David Thompson, has created a collection of die cast models of RNLI lifeboats and emergency vehicles.

Now he has presented them to the Harwich Society’s Lifeboat Museum, which has had 900 visitors so far this year, where they will form a special display.

Curator, Ken Brand, said: "It is always nice to have a new display and David’s collection will be another point of interest to visitors.

"We are very grateful to him."

It is hoped the new boats will on display by the end of July.

The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 3pm and when the flag is flying.

Entry is £1 and is free to Harwich Society members.
