MORE jobs for local people are set to be created when a fibre optics company takes over Harwich’s Gas House Quay.
CCL UK, a Colchetser based company, was awarded the lease for the land by Tendring Council last month.
Boss of CCL, Steve Wakefield, says employment will include local people and local contractors wherever possible.
He said: “The development will include an office, depot a training centre and storage facilities, all of which we plan to have up and running within a matter of months.
“It is our intention to use it as a training centre for our own employees and contractors and we are already considering very seriously establishing an offshore training school.
“If that happens then it will be necessary for us to take additional premises in Harwich and around the locality.”
