A FAMILY has spoken out in support of a school which banned parents from sports day due to teacher strikes.
Manningtree High School came under fire last week after a parent hit out at the decision to stop friends and family from attending the annual event.
The school said a lack of teachers on the national strike day had forced the move, as student safety had been the overall priority.
Sheena Jones, an aunt of two youngsters at the school, said she was angry at the criticism.
She said: “I was very disappointed, I feel the school did really well.
“The children so look forward to their sports day, but as far as I’m aware not many parents go.
“At the end of the day, it must have been really difficult and everyone I’ve spoken to says good for the school.”
