A LONG standing employee of Trinity House has been given a top award.

Principle development manager Malcolm Nicholson has been elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Institute of Navigation for more than ten years service at the lighthouse authority of England and Wales.

He received a certificate to mark the achievement from Prince Phillip, a former Master of Trinity House, at a ceremony at the Royal Geography Society in London last week.

Mr Nicholson was delighted to receive the honour given to him for his work on the improvement of safety of maritime navigation.

β€œIt is quite a historical society and there are not too many people who have been accepted to the fellowship so it is a fantastic achievement,” he said.
