A LIGHTHOUSE was flooded with guests at its first open weekend.

More than 200 people visited the Harwich High Lighthouse, climbing the 100 steps to the top for its unique view over the town, on Saturday and Sunday.

The historic building has become the newest tourist attraction to be run by the Harwich Society.

The High Lighthouse will be open to the public every Saturday through the summer from 11am to 3pm and when the ‘open’ sign is displayed.

Curator for the High Lighthouse, Sue DaishSue is now on the look out for people’s memories and stories about the lighthouse.

“If anyone has such a story to share, then please pop into the lighthouse or drop it in to Foresters at 5 Church Street.”
