POIGNANT services will be held to remember all who served in the First World War on the centenary of its outbreak.
The Manningree and District branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding a Drumhead Service on Sunday at the Welcome Home Field in New Road, Mistley beginning at 5pm.
There will also be a Parade of Standards at 5.30pm.
Following the service Swan Basin in Mistley will be lit up with floating candles with all welcome to come and pay their respects.
On Monday the branch intends to hold further candlelit vigils at three war memorials in the area between 10pm and 11pm.
All members of the public will be invited to the commemorative statues in Manningtree High Street, on the corner of Church Lane and Wignall Street in Lawford and on New Road in Mistley.
Chairman Jamie Robinson is hoping people will turn out in huge numbers to commemorate the centenary of the Great War.
βIt is an opportunity for everyone to show their respect to the soldiers who gave their lives for us to be able to live the way we do,β he said.
