MORE than 100 residents in Mistley have benefited from personal community health checks to ensure they have adequate support.

A team set up by Tendring Council’s community builder Diane Boyd in partnership with Mistley Parish Council visited the Stourview Estate in May and then earlier this month.

Staff and volunteers from Clacton Citizens Advice Bureau, Essex Fire and Rescue Service, Essex Police, Essex Care, Essex County Council Trading Standards and councillor Lynda McWilliams were on the rounds.

They offered residents fire safety checks, assessments for mobility aids, ways of identifying rogue traders, methods of crime prevention and support with independent living.

Ms McWilliams said: “One particular person was identified as being at high risk and is now being supported to continue living independently and safely within their community.

“That person was in crisis with no electric, food, money or telephone. Their problems stemmed from a severe stroke and resultant memory loss but various agencies are no working together to resolve the situation.”

The team is looking to carry out further health checks in Lawford and Manningtree later this year.
