A NEW fundraising team has raised more than £1200 for St Helena Hospice.
The Harwich and Dovercourt Hospice support group held a hog roast on July 20 to fundraise and presented a cheque for £1,203.50 this week.
Chairman for the support group Ian Love said: “Special thanks must go to Paul Humphreys for providing the pig, Paul and Fiona for cooking on the hog roast machine, Mehmet from Dovercourt Grill, James Martin and friends for the music and Tim Gooch from Warnes Butchers who made it all possible.
“Thanks also to the committee of the Harwich and Dovercout hospice support group. To raise £1,203.50 is a fantastic amount.
“We never expected to raise this amount because we started so recently but there are six to eight of us now working to get donations.
“Hopefully we can organise a quiz night in October, a bag pack in one of the supermarkets and a ball or a dance before Christmas.”
Anyone wanting to get involved should call Mr Love on 01255 507365 or 0778606474.
