BERTIE Brayley has been appointed player-manager of Burnham Ramblers.

The former Swindon Town, Canvey Island, Margate, Braintree Town and Chelmsford City man - also an FA Youth Cup winner with West Ham - is taking the reins from Lee Elliston.

Elliston resigned earlier this week due to a new opportunity at work that would have prevented him dedicating the time he needed at Leslie Field.

Brayley will take charge for the first time in tomorrow's pre-season friendly at home to East Thurrock United.

David Patient will be Brayley's assistant manager, with Leon Woodford first-team coach.
