In pictures: Visitors brave the elements to join charity stroll

First published in

KIDS and adults alike took a walk on the wild side for a nature reserve open day.

More than 100 visitors took part in Bobbit’s Stroll, an open day at Bobbit’s Hole in Dovercourt, despite the tail end of Hurricane Bertha bringing rain and strong winds to the coast.

This year the annual amble was in aid of Hedgehog Haven Essex.

The Harwich Society manages the area and Chairman Colin Farnell said people battled the rain, thunder and lightning with umbrellas before the sun came out in the afternoon.

“Despite the weather we had we had quite a good day,” he said.

“We had 130 visitors and raised £188 for Hedgehog Haven Essex."
