A FORMER nightclub is set to be turned into a town centre amusement arcade.

Owner Mike Gibbons has been given permission by Tendring Council to convert the Basement nightclub in Kingsway, Dovercourt, into a family entertainment centre.

The ground-floor premises will be filled with games machines, children’s rides and slot machines worth £500,000.

Mr Gibbons recently opened a bingo hall upstairs in the same building.

He said: “We are over the moon that it has been passed."
